The secret to living healthy all year long according to WHO

At the beginning of the new year 2017, the World Health Organization (WHO) gave nine tips to people around the world as the secret to having a healthy year. Here are some useful tips on WHO’s secret to a healthy year-round life.

1. Be physically active

Insufficient physical activity is one of the top ten risk factors for death in the world, and it is also a major risk factor for non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes. “Physical activity”, according to WHO, is not only “exercise” but also physical movements that require energy consumption such as activities when working at the office, playing, doing housework, etc. 18-64 year olds, they must be physically active for at least 150 minutes at a moderate level or 75 minutes at a vigorous level each week.

2. Healthy eating

A healthy diet helps fight against all forms of malnutrition as well as non-communicable diseases including diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer. The energy input must be balanced with the energy expended. For adults, a healthy diet includes: fruits, vegetables, nuts; at least 400g (5 servings) of fruits and vegetables per day; less than 10% of total energy obtained from free sugars (equivalent to 50g); less than 30% of total energy is obtained from fat in which unsaturated fat (found in fish, nuts, avocado, olive oil…) is better than saturated fat (fatty meat, butter, coconut oil, cheese…); stay away from industrial trans fats (found in processed foods, fast foods, margarine…); Use less than 5g of salt (1 teaspoon) per day and iodized salt is recommended.
